Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I start the tiling process?
We want to make the process easy for you & we're glad to help!

• Choose your counter tops & cabinets before selecting your tile.
Tile is available in a wider selection than cabinetry, therefore it's important
to choose tops and cabinets first and then match the tile from an array of
thousands of tiles.

• Look through magazines, decorating books and on the Internet.
Collect pictures of tiles you like - even if the colors or the application are not
quite right. It's important to get a feel for what you like. When you visit us in
the showroom, bring your file of collected photos & we can start from there!

• Bring your architect/contractor scale drawings or blueprints to the showroom.
If you have them, bring your drawings with you when you visit us so that our
professional staff can really get a sense of the direction your construction
is taking.

• Bring your samples & swatches to the showroom.
If you've made choices for the room or rooms that you need to incorporate
into your tile design, bring us samples & swatches so that we can help you
coordinate the whole look. Having that small piece of fabric with you, may
help you to find a way to make one room flow into the other.

2. How do I stick to my budget?
Our professionally trained sales staff will do everything possible to get you
what you like at a cost you can afford. Be upfront about how much you'd like
to spend at the start of the project. From the grandest of new homes to the
most simple of repairs, we have something for every budget.

3. Do I have to make an appointment to see a salesperson?
We will welcome you at any time during our showroom business hours. We do,
however, recommend you make an appointment if you are working on a large
project, coming from a distance, or you want to work with a specific salesperson.
But if you'd just like to look around at our selection, be our guest! Our showroom
is chock full of products - plan on visiting for a while. For years, tile was plain and
had little variety, but today, there is an incredible selection to choose from and
Mediterranean Tile & Marble can help you find exactly what you're looking for!

4. After I place the order, how long until my tiles arrive/deliver?
We offer two types of materials: Stocks and Non-Stocks. Stocked material refers to
those tiles that are already in stock with one of our local (East Coast) vendors and
will arrive in our warehouse in 7 to 10 business days. Non-Stocks are handmade
tiles, special orders, or tile ordered from overseas, that can take anywhere from
4 to 12 weeks. It's important to let your Mediterranean sales representative know
your deadlines upfront.

5. What about installation?
While, we don't staff installers in our store, we're happy to recommend a list of
very reputable & professional contractors and installers in the area.

6. How do I figure out how much tile I need for my space?
Consult your contractor or installer prior to placing the actual order for your tile
from us. They will measure the space to determine the number of tiles needed.

7. Will Mediterranean Tile & Marble deliver the tile?
Absolutely! There is a nominal fee for incoming and outgoing freight which is
standard practice in the tile industry. Freight cost is a separate fee and is not
included in the square foot/piece price. Due to the weight and value of the
material, all deliveries are curb-side drop shipments and must be very
carefully planned.

8. Can I return any tile I do not use?
Yes, but only under very time-sensitive circumstances and for certain products.
Before returns are brought into the showroom, customers must fax a detailed
list of what they have left over. A salesperson will then call to advise what
materials you may or may not return and how soon it needs to be delivered to
our warehouse. Stone, hand-made tiles and special orders are not returnable
under any circumstances. Full boxes of tile are returnable within 30 days of
receipt in our warehouse (as opposed to when you actually pick it up).

9. What happens if I run out in the middle of my installation?
Don't panic! Actually, this is a very common issue and whether it's one piece
of bullnose or 10 square feet of back splash you forgot to order when you
changed the initial kitchen design a little, you are not the first in the situation.
Because we understand the situation is stressful and your installer is charging
you by the hour, we'll help you to resolve it as quickly and painlessly as possible.

10. Do you have designers on staff?
Of course! Tile design is an art form that requires experience, training and
professionalism. Our design team has the creativity and knowledge to produce a
beautiful & tasteful look for your tile project. Visit our showroom & we'll treat you
to a tour of our elegant and finely crafted tile options!
